What’s The Big Deal About Purity?

The short answer: Purity is a very big deal. Bigger than you and I could possibly imagine.

Now, the slightly longer answer: If time travel were possible (think Back to the Future), I would want to travel back to the year 1997 to find a 14 year old version of myself getting ready to find a video cassette underneath a couch which would contain my very first exposure to hardcore porn. What would I say? Well, I’m not completely sure all the words, but I would like to speak into that 14 year old version of myself a few reminders:

You are valuable!
You have purpose!
Don’t give away your purity!

As a 14 year old, I was about to make the worst decision of my life — one that I would spend the next 12 years of my life trying to fix. I was about to trade in purity for pleasure — at least what I THOUGHT pleasure was. To read my entire story, go here.

This week, I’m going to start a series on the podcast having to do with this single issue: Purity. What is the big deal really about living a pure life?! Why can’t I live the way I want to live? My body, my heart, my mind is mine anyways, right?

Nothing could be further from the truth. And this week, you can listen to an interview I did recently with an incredible spiritual leader in my local community, Pastor Rob Brown, Associate Pastor of Central Worship Center in Laurel, Delaware. We talk about the following topics:

Pt.1 – The Purpose of Purity
Pt.2 – Purity Within Marriage
Pt.3 – The Pathway Towards Purity

I will be releasing these 3 podcasts back to back throughout the week, so please take a few minutes to check them out!

Also, take a couple seconds to chew on this Scripture, which we also talk about on the podcasts.

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. (Psalm 119:9 NIV)
