One of the most major ways that porn destroys someone is through their identity. Porn turns you into someone you were never meant to be. It changes the way you think, manipulates your view of the opposite sex, and fools you into thinking that intimacy comes from made up sexual scenarios acted out on screen. It also causes a person to isolate themselves and hardens their emotions to no longer be able to “feel” anything.
How can we change this? First, by acknowledging that PORN IS NOT LOVE. It’s not even real. You & I were made for true intimacy in the context of a God-ordained marriage where real intimacy thrives. We also must recognize that our bodies are not our own property. 1st Corinthians 6:18-20 says: “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
Don’t lose your true identity by forfeiting who you were really meant to be through the lie that is pornography.
